Oktaset at the Norwegian Developers Conference 2012 and TechEd North America 2012

This summer has started out being a bright one for Oktaset. Over 1100 users at the Norwegian Developers Conference (NDC) managed their sessions with our mobile apps. The week after, close to 1000 users at TechEd North America in Orlando used our iOS and Android apps to browse through a wealth of content that is the TechEd agenda.

Thanks to all of you that provided us with valuable feedback. It will only make our product better!

Hope to see you all next year!

Conference Apps at Build Windows

The Build Windows conference currently going on in Anaheim, California, shows off some exciting news for the future of Windows, Azure and accompanying development tools.

We think that with such an agenda and such a crowd of attendees, the official conference apps for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 7 is not enough. We saw it only fitting that we should bring the agenda to iOS and Android devices too.

As always we want you to have the best possible mobile experience when planning your sessions and view details about the conference speakers. In the version for iPhone and iPad, you can follow the #bldwin twitterstream, post tweets directly from the app, and share your conference experience on the Oktaset Facebook-wall.

During the conference, we will make sure that changes in the agenda is picked up by our Azure-based backend, and the apps will get the updated information.

MVVM and WPF

As WPF is becoming the de-facto standard UI technology on the Windows platform, the Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM) pattern has become more and more prominent as a good way of separating concerns between UI and logic.

This Friday we are ramping up the effort to exploit WPF and its powerful data binding mechanisms, in one of our customers internal tool chain. That’ll also include a deep dive into MVVM.
